The DED supports sustainable development projects, mainly through qualified personnel (cooperants), in partnership with government and civil society agencies. Since the start of its activities in Brazil in 1966, the DED has been engaged in the Northeast, with Rural Development in the scope of family agriculture as one the main activities in the Program. The strategic focal areas are: combating desertification, biodiesel and access to alternative markets.
Several initiatives seek expansion and consolidation of agroecology and fair trade as an opportunity to access the markets at the local, regional, national and international levels with strategies directed to the strengthening of small farmer organizations and the construction of networks and strategic partnerships multiplying initiatives and discussing public policies.
In this context, the DED supports the Northeast & Cerrado Room at the ExpoSustentat, which is considered a magnificent space for the presentation of the colossal potential of the family agriculture of the Northeast in order to access differentiated markets, as well as a great opportunity for the organizations to develop commercialization processes.
